We worked the entire weekend on checking things off the list to complete the formal agency adoption process. Nana, Cole and Georgia were very patient with us as we made daily trips to FedEx in nearby Salisbury. Here is a quick run down:
Friday - got the word out to our references, who completed and faxed them out--thank you! Print out all applications and went to get our drug tests done. You'll all be glad to know Merry and I are PCP, Methadone, Marijuana and Cocaine free!
- Saturday - We completed our applications and sent them off to our social worker and the agency. Our fingerprint information did not get delivered to FedEx Kinko's, so we all raced to the airport location to pick up the package. I barracaded one of the employees trying to leave with the Suburban and he retrieved the package for us--whew! From there we headed back to Crisfield and stopped by the Crisfield Police Department. Everyone was so kind to us while Merry and I were fingerprinted. Cole was deputized as an official Crisfield Jr. Policeman and continues to give Daddy a ticket "for not having two hands on the wheel!"
- Sunday - We arrived for mass at St. Elizabeth Church in tiny Westover, MD...to our surprise it was the Spanish mass! We met Sister Eileen afterward and she pledged to look in on Nana and Georgia when we leave for our home study trip to Atlanta--gotta love Catholic power!
-Monday we sent off our fingerprints to the FBI...hopefully all will go well with the turnaround of those results. We booked our travel back to Atlanta and will depart Wednesday with Cole for a sure to be tiring down and back drip. We also signed a health care power of attorney so Nana could take care of her just in case anything happened. What a crazy situation...we felt like we had this all completed before we came here. Now we have a one week old and cannot take her out of the state until our paperwork clears inside Georgia. It doesn't seem fair, but we've been left with no choice. Merry and I have decided we're going to have fun with this...we're going to try and blog about the whole crazy day.
