With most of our holidays and special events celebrated in Atlanta these last two decades, we decided--since Georgia Alice Preiditsch is named after Rob's Mom Alice--we should host Georgia's Christening in Canada!
April 23-27 was a gorgeous long weekend to be in Canada. Warm temperatures greeted us as we flew into Buffalo drove past Niagara Falls and into Canada. Nana & Papa greeted us with Merry's favorite homemade soup. From that point it was all about our relatives north of the border spoiling Cole and Georgia with attention. Cole must have had three different desserts the first night!
Day two saw the Preiditsch boys John, Dad and Rob getting up early to open their cottages on Lake Huron. All went well and it was a fantastic day to play on the beach and enjoy the weather!
Baptism Day April 25, 2009 was another fantastic day with beautiful weather for our event three doors down from Nana & Papa's house at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. That is until five minutes before we left and a big storm blew in. Special Thanks to Uncle Billy for his help in chaffeuring us to the church unexpectedly. Godparents Terri Preiditsch and Tom Fitzgerald stood lovingly by as Father Joseph welcomed little Georgia into the Catholic church community. She was so sweet and only cried a little at the baptismal font. Lightning struck and the rain poured outside, Father Joseph proclaimed that God was showering down his love and thundering his welcoming to little Georgia. 
Selecting Aunt Terri to be Godmother was so easy because to Merry and I she represents what we strive for as parents, but she makes look so easy: compassion, dedication, creativity, and a fantastic chef! Tom and Marianne Fitzgerald have been like a second family to us. After raising four children and countless foster children and having guided Rob through such an important time in his life, the Fitzgeralds hold such a special piece of our hearts...and now little Georgia's.
Special thanks to Mom and Dad, our family and all our friends and relatives who came to this special event for us.
To round off the weekend, we attend Jamie Hiller's Confirmation ceremonies attended by the Bishop and a special mass for Rob's Grandmother Leona Logel. It was fantastic to see so many our relatives in such a short amount of time! Happy times!
